Traceability platforms are hot. Not only companies with indicate supply chains use traceability tools to help them with sustainability risk management, there is also much interest from the NGO and investor communities. Especially the ability of online platforms to share data gives stakeholders better insights on supplier related sustainability risks.
This is the rationale behind a stakeholder engagement assignment for FoodReg, provider of the “KnownSources” traceability platform developed for the palm oil industry. Today, more than 50% of all palm oil produced globally is traced through the KnownSources platform. The assignment includes network building, presentations and NGO dialogue sessions.
The Global Forest Watch database, a great tool to cross check deforestation and forest fires with palm oil concession boundaries, makes use of data from the KnownSources platform. Such win-win cooperations can only succeed based on sound relationships.
